Introduction

The Lions Club of Lorne was established in 1970. The Club is comprised of a small team of men and women who work tirelessly to raise funds to provide financial and other support to worthy causes within Lorne and also to initiatives of Lions International. The Lions Club has contributed to a wide range of community projects, mostly here in Lorne. Sporting clubs, emergency services, hospital, church groups and individuals with particular needs; all have been beneficiaries of the Lions Club.  The motto of Lions is “We Serve”. 
 
The Easter Art Show is well supported by the local community and the visitors who come to Lorne during the Easter holiday period.  The 2019 Easter Art Show was particularly successful.  Over $26,000 worth of paintings, more than a quarter of all entries, were sold.
 
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the 2020 and 2021 art shows were cancelled.
 
The official opening of the 2022 Easter Art Show will take place on the evening of Thursday 14h April 2022.  The show will be open each day over Easter from 10:00am until 5:00pm and will close at midday on Monday 18th April, 2022.
 
We invite you to participate in the Lions Easter Art Show this year.

​Categories, Prizes & Sizes

The Art Show will be staged at the Lorne Community Connect Centre, formerly known as the Lorne Senior Citizens Centre. The venue is centrally located and prominent to the main street, Mountjoy Parade.

The categories and prize money have been set as follows

  • All awards are non-acquisitive.
  • Each artist may submit up to four (4) works, ONE of which may be up to a maximum length of 160 cm on any side.  Please refer to Terms and Conditions for further information.
  • Labels to be filled in an affixed to the rear, top right hand corner of each work and can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
  • If you wish to provide an Artist’s Bio, you can email it to [email protected] .

The entry form must be received no later than 5:00pm on Friday 11th March 2022.

All art work is to be delivered to the Lorne Community Connect Centre (Senior Citizens’ Centre) during the following times:
Sunday 10th April  2022
12:00pm to 3:00pm
Tuesday 12th April 2022
12:00pm to 3:00pm
Official opening including Champagne supper will be at 7:30pm on Thursday 14th April 2022. 
Participating artists will receive a Complimentary Pass to this event.

​Unsold works must be collected between 12:00pm and 3:00pm on Monday 18th April 2022.

Judging

Judging will take place on Thursday 14th April and all category winners (with the exception of People’s Choice) will be notified prior to the Official Opening at 7:30pm.

​The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced at the show on Monday 18th April at 11:00am​​.

Our Judge - Pat McKenzie

Pats’ artistic journey began seriously after moving to live in Aireys Inlet in 1995.  Living and working on the farm she is surrounded by cattle, horses, kangaroos, wild duck and the occasional echidna & koala wandering through.  Surrounded by National Park and only 5 minutes from the famous Great Ocean Road, there is much to give inspiration. She works in all mediums, depending on the subject matter, with no real preference, but enjoys them all. 
She has won many awards for her work and has held solo exhibitions at the Victorian Artists Society in Melbourne, Eagles’ Nest Fine Art Gallery in Aireys Inlet and been a part of joint exhibitions in Wintergarden , and 101 Ryrye Arts Geelong.  She has been a finalist in the ANL Maritime exhibition at the Mission to Seafarers in Docklands for the past 4 years and a finalist in the National Equine Prize in Mansfield. She has been a part of the Surf Coast Arts Trail since its inception 8 years ago when she opens her studio to visitors.  In 2016 she was commissioned to paint 12 watercolour paintings by the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Icecreamery which were used for the packaging of their gourmet range of chocolates. 

Pat has travelled extensively with her paints both in Australia and overseas, with much of this work being used for inspiration for her exhibitions.   Many of her paintings are now hanging in private collections both in Australia and Internationally. 

Pat is past President of the Anglesea Art House for 7 years, and Treasurer for 8 years.  

She presently tutors weekly oil & watercolour classes at the Geelong Art Society, oil & acrylic classes at the Anglesea Art House and  watercolour classes in Torquay. She is a country member of the Victorian Artists Society and a member of the Pastel Society of Australia.

​Terms & Conditions of Entry

  1. By the signing of the official entry form, the entrant agrees to these Terms and Conditions applicable to the Lions Club of Lorne (Inc.) Art Show.
  2. Entries must be accompanied by an entry fee of $15.00 per painting and is non-refundable. Pairs will be accepted as two items and the fee will be $30.00 per pair.
  3. There is a maximum of four (4) works per artist. We do not accept photographs in this exhibition.
  4. Exhibitors may submit one work with a maximum length of 160cm on any side. Other works must not exceed 100cm on any side. Because of space limitations the organisers reserve the right to refuse to accept any painting that exceeds the maximum dimension of 160 x 160cm. The organisers will also not accept more than one painting at these dimensions.
  5. All entries must be for sale and a commission of 25% will be deducted from each sale. Artists are responsible for their own GST. The Lions Club of Lorne does not collect GST on behalf of exhibitors.
  6. Entries must not have been entered in any of our previous Art Shows. The Lions Club of Lorne (Inc.) reserves the right to reject any work they consider to be unsuitable or offensive.
  7. The Judge will be selected by the Lions Club of Lorne (Inc.). The Judge’s decision will be final.
  8. Prize winners will be notified prior to the official opening. The ‘People’s Choice Award’ will be announced on Easter Monday 18th April 2022, at 11:00am. 
  9. Each exhibit must be the original work of the artist - not copies of other work, nor in any way in breach of copyright.
  10. All exhibits must be dry and SUITABLY PREPARED FOR HANGING WITH SCREW-EYES AND WIRE ATTACHED. One of the labels at the back of this entry form MUST be attached to the back of each submitted work.
  11. Sale prices will not be negotiated with buyers. Prices given at time of entry are final.
  12. All care will be taken with exhibits, but no liability will be accepted for loss or damage to any item. Exhibitors are advised to insure their work.
  13. The Lions Club of Lorne (Inc.) reserves the right to reproduce entries in any media for publicity, catalogue and archival purposes in association with the Art Show.
  14. All unsold work must be collected between 12:00pm and 3:00pm on Monday 18th April, 2022.
  15. Exhibits will be received at the Lorne Community Connect Centre (Lorne Senior Citizens Centre) Cnr. Mountjoy Parade and Otway Street, during the following times:

    SUNDAY 10th April 2022 12:00pm to 3:00pm
    TUESDAY 12th April 2022 12:00pm to 3:00pm
  16. Entries must be received by no later than ​5:00pm on Friday 11th  March 2022.
